How do you turn 10 into a 100
    Tuesday, August 25, 2009 || 7:28 am

I've been blogging for ages now, and was intrigued by bloggers in Singapore who had the chance to win prizes from Nuffnang!
So, since Australia has a Nuffnang branch, I'm super happy that I've got the chance now!!!!!!!! I used to think, pish posh, it's going to be easy to win, shamelessly overestimating myself, and now, woahhhhhhh, I just read a post about a girl who made a dress out of blankets and things for under $10 and I'm so gonna pee in my pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =((

Nuffnang!!! Do you have a turn $10 into $50 so I could have at least a chance to fight?

So those who don't know, Nuffnangers (that's me and lots of creative people) are given a chance to turn $10 into $100 by accepting a challenge of being frugal or being creative. CRAP, none of them my forte. Nevertheless, I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE!!

For more information, theres this link if you're interested!! but hurry, its ending on 31st August!!
Nuffnang Coles Group; how do you turn 10 into 100

If it was a 'most boring buys' challenge I would sooo win hands down, I'll just pop into Coles and get myself some shampoo, since mine is running low at the moment.

    so,I accept,

    Challenge 2:

Most frugal Nuffie award. How far can you stretch $10 and what can you make it do?

I was really looking forward to this challenge, and kept checking the mailbox to see whether the card arrived, which made the people at the reception think I'm crazy or something, but was ecstatic when it finally arrived!!!

So the very next day, we woke up at 730am just to go to Coles, -.- even though neither of us had classes on that day!
    kiasu much, I know!!!

Environmental friendly bag, laden with calculator!!!!
    No extra cash, FRUGAL MODE!

We were really in frugal/healthy/environmental friendly mode, so hence, walking to coles, which was relatively NOT NEAR from our place even though a bus would reach there in like 3 mins!!

My shopping frugal mate, MUNG, who I have to thank because she had to take pictures of me being crazy with groceries!!

5 minutes later, into the walk.

10 minutes later, still not there!!! -.-!

15 minutes later, STILL A STRETCH of road. =(

20 minutes later, WE SAW THE MAGICAL RED SIGN!!!!!! YAY!!

Felt really good and healthy walking here, and in case people think we're crazy wearing shorts in the middle of winter, the weather in Brisbane is MAD HOT!
    It already feels like Summer.

This is me with the magical sign.

Okay, I notice my pictures are crap looking, because I was using this lousy cam phone thingy majigy, but see, if I won the $100, I could easily go to Kmart, and you know, *hinting heavily w/o shame*
So the first thing we went thru was veges, and we were excited to see so much veges and fruits being so cheap!! Healthy mode remember?
    KIWIFRUIT!!! $0.99 for 4!!!!!
SUPER HAPPY! was so excited, that I forgot to take a picture of them.

This is a super embaressing sight.
I was holding the calculator, and weighing every single thing I picked out.
I had peas and carrots, to roast.
Kiwifruits to put in yoghurt! YUM!!!
    Apples and oranges for snacks!!!
Nuts to give Mung, because she was so nice walking with me.
I think the shop assistants were silently cursing at me.

& er, I stole a grape, I meant, tested it.
To er, see if it was sweet enough. er... yea.. consumer's right?
Don't tell them okay? I'll go to jail! =(

& i thought of spending all the cash on fruits and vege, but apparently cherries dont come cheap.
Can you believe they cost like $20 for 1kg??? =(((
So I had to stray around to find cheaper alternatives!
I suspect in the back of the mind, that I'm more of a stingy person rather than a frugal one!!
    *depressed*

& Mung had to pull me away from this aisle,
I havent eaten chips for 2 months now, and it was on SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    2 for $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BBQ RIBS FLAVOUR!!!!!!!!! MY FAV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    *slaps self*
    *chanting mantra*
I AM ON A HEALTHY MODE, I AM ON A STRICT DIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay, i cannot stop looking at that picture and salivate!

Crazy person with pods, which I miss dearly!
    Sigh.
Why do I torture myself sometimes?
Okay, I'll tell you a secret, anything to win.
When I'm at supermarkets, and since I'm on a diet, I always smell the chocolate packets to get a whiff of the heavenly smell, then put the packet back, and leave.

    This I miss.

I hope she wasnt getting annoyed waiting for me, because I was roaming around aimlessly.

    Something was cheap!!!!!!
& I bought some bandages! Cheap ones I may add,
    $1.17 for 50!!!!!!

    Finally, after almost an hour!!!

    Paying with the gift card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I spent $9.76 on 17 items!
    *BEAMS*
    Super proud of myself.
CAN YOU IMAGINE BUYING 17 Items for like $9.76,

    Leaving coles! =(
    another 20 min walk ahead!

    Bye Coles!

    Unpacking the magical bag!!!

    SUPER LONG RECEIPT!!!
well, not super long, but it's relatively long for things under $10

    HAH!!
    I still can't believe that I spent under $10 on 17 items!!!!
    Theoretically speaking,
    I bought
20 garbage bags, ( ran out of bags at home, coincidentally)
50 bandages, (need to put bandage on toes, to stop them from hurting when I jog)
4 kiwifruits, (wonderful with yoghurt!!. mmmmm)
    10 macadamia nuts,
    10 cashew nuts,
10 walnuts, (nuts to thank Mung!)
    5 long beans,
    5brussel sprouts (YUM!!!!!!!)
    6 sweet peas, (roasted heaven)
1 lemon, (+ tea, desperate attempt to lose weight)
    baked beans,
pasta, (baked beans pasta!!! meals lasting for 3 days)
    1 carrot (snacks!)
    1 royal gala apple
    1 navel orange(LOVE NAVEL ORANGES!!!)
1 pack of jelly, ( to make ahem, jelly shots if we have a party in the near future)
1 packet of cake mix ( going to bake it when I'm in a bad mood, fyi, I bake when I feel like i'm in love or in a bad mood, which I know is very weird!!)

So actually, I bought like 100+ things for $9.76!
I could still get something for 25c if i wanted to!

    Proud owner of 100+ items!!

    Value buys!!!

& I know it's super ironic for someone who's blog add is freshfoodppl, which is woolsworth motto thing, to do a challenge for Coles, but when I first got here, Woolies was the nearest store around me, and it was just 3 minutes walk away, providing me with comfort food when I miss home, but I personally like Coles, not just to kiss ass, or anything, but Coles is the only store where I could get QUADRUPLE CHOCOLATE COOKIES, which tastes like heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& even my mum like Coles, which I suspect so, because she just can't pronounce Woolsworth.
So, in addition, if I win this challenge, I'm not gonna step in Woolies for 2 weeks!!!

Finally, I'll like to thank Nuffnang for giving me a chance to join this competition, I really enjoyed it, rummaging through every corner of Coles to find bargains!!
